Office to Branch/Godown Calls
 

Let us take the example of a small business organisation, viz., M/s. ABC Corporation having one head office, one branch and one godown, situated at three different locations, for their business operations in India. These three locations are connected via land lines.

The present minimum call charge to call using land line anywhere in India is Re.1/- per minute. Being an internal business call, let us assume that the average time taken for a call is 4 minutes. Suppose 10 people from the head office make an average of 10 calls to the branch and 10 calls to the godown per day assuming that one call is made by the head office employee to the branch and godown.

The telephone expense of the head office for internal calls, as per the above assumption, at the end of the month shall be:

 
Cost per call = Rs. 4/- (Re.1 x 4 min. per call)
Total calls per day = 20 calls  
Total cost per day = Rs. 80/- (Rs.4 x 20 calls)
Total cost per month = Rs. 2000/- (Rs.80 x 25 working days

This is not the end. Similarly, the branch and godown will interact each other for the business purpose. Plus, they will also call the head office for their needs. So, taking into consideration the same cost at the branch and godown, the total cost incurred by ABC Corporation for telecommunication will amount to Rs. 6000 (Rs.2000 x 3).

In their recent Board Meeting, ABC Corporation decided to cut down its unnecessary expenses without compromising quality. ABC Corporation decides to have technical consultancy with Xtend Technologies. Xtend FCT Marketing Department explained them about FCT.

GSM/CDMA Mobile service providers in India are charging 75 paise per minute for a call anywhere to any number in India. This is the maximum charge and if you go further into their special schemes, their charges even come down to 40 paise per minute. In this example, let us take it as 75 paise per minute. Since one call of ABC Corporation lasts 4 minutes, cost per call is Rs. 3/- (Re 0.75 x 4).

 
Total calls per day (Head Office only) = 20
Total cost per day (Head Office only) = Rs. 60/- (Rs.3 x 20)
Total cost per month (Head Office only) = Rs. 1500/- (Rs.60 x 25 days)
     

Head Office alone saves Rs.500/- per month. Taking into account, the branch and godown savings, the total savings for the organisation is Rs. 1500.

Other than the savings, there are other advantages too. Since the FCT is connected to the EPABX system, any call originating through FCT can be directed to the right person. Instead of FCT, if a mobile is used, it has to be carried to the person to whom the call is each time.

 

Note: In a special scheme of CDMA Mobile service providers, it is free (no charge) to call from one mobile to another of the same provider anywhere in India. Then, the savings is 100%!
